Perennial — Height 3 to 4 feet

Native to the eastern United States, Dense Blazing Star produces purple feathery wands of flower stalks. Flowers bloom in August and September.

Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist but well-draining soil after all danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with 1/8 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Do not cover seeds deeply. Water well during dry or drought conditions.

Germination in 20 to 45 days, depending on soil temperature and growing conditions.
