Harvest in: 79 days
Description:
As 2001’s AAS Winner, it was applauded by the AAS judges both for taste and ease of growth. One of the best corns for the home gardener or market farmer. Eight to 8½ inch ears on plants eight feet tall have 18 to 20 rows of tender, crunchy, sweet kernels with that old-fashioned corn taste. Taste and texture hold several days after being picked.
SOWING:
Direct sow corn seeds in fertile soil and full sun directly in the garden when the soil has warmed to at least 70°F and nighttime temps do not dip below 60°F.
Plant 1 to 2 inches deep and cover with soil.
Sow seeds around 3 inches apart, in rows 24 to 36 inches apart.
THINNING:
When plants are 5 inches tall, thin to 10 inches apart. Corn is wind-pollinated and crowded plants may not produce full ears.
GERMINATION:
8 to 15 days depending on soil temperature and weather conditions.
