A reliable pickling variety—straight, uniform, and dark green. Produces abundant cucumbers on vigorous vines. Fruits have a slight taper at the ends. Resistant to Cucumber Mosaic Virus and Scab.
Sowing:
Plant seed outdoors in late spring when the ground is warm and frost danger has passed.
Make a group of 4–6 seeds placed in a ring about 2 inches across.
Cover with ½ inch of fine soil, well pressed down.
Each ring of seeds is called a hill; space hills 4–6 feet apart.
Thinning:
When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin to leave the 3 or 4 strongest plants per hill.
Germination:
Germinates in 8 to 10 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
Remarks:
A second planting in early summer is recommended for fall harvest.
Pick fruit often for best flavor.
Do not allow fruits to grow too large.
