Perennial – Matures in 72 Days
A perennial herb that can be harvested in the first year. Plant in a permanent spot in the herb garden. Can also be grown in planters or pots. Sage is widely used as poultry seasoning, in sausage, soups, and stews.
SOWING:
Plant seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked. May be planted as late as mid-summer for harvest in late fall or next year. Plant seeds 1 inch apart and cover with ½ inch of fine soil, well pressed down.
THINNING:
When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin or transplant 10 inches apart.
GERMINATION:
Germinates in 14 to 20 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKS:
Leaves can be cut anytime for fresh use. For winter use, cut the entire plant and hang upside down to dry. Then remove leaves and pack in jars.
