Description:
Known as the “stem turnip,” the turnip-like tuber is actually an enlarged stem 1 to 3 inches above ground. Flesh is white or purple, sweeter than other cabbage family members. Can be eaten raw in salads, added to soups, grilled, or made into fritters.

SOWING:
Plant seed outdoors early in spring as soon as soil can be worked.
Space seeds 3 to 4 inches apart.
Seedlings do not transplant well—plant where they will remain.
Cover with 1/4 inch of fine soil and water well.

THINNING:
When plants are 2 inches tall, thin to stand 6 to 8 inches apart.
Eat your thinnings!

GERMINATION:
Germinates in 1 to 12 days depending on soil temperature and moisture.

REMARKS:
For microgreens: plant seed thickly and harvest at 2 inches tall.
The name “Kohlrabi” means “cabbage turnip” in German.
