Annual
Height: 2 to 2½ feet
Description:
Larkspur bears Delphinium-like flowers on upright, strong-stemmed plants. Soft green feathery foliage sets off the handsome long floral spikes of double blossoms. Flowers quickly from seed. Larkspurs are an outstanding variety for cut flowers.
SOWING:
Sow seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked or start indoors 6 to 8 weeks earlier. Plant in rows 18 inches apart, spacing seed 1 inch in row. Cover seed with 1/8 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until plants start to grow. Satisfactory results are obtained by planting seed outdoors as late as early summer.
THINNING:
When plants are 2 to 3 inches high, thin or transplant 12 to 15 inches apart.
GERMINATION:
Germinates in 14 to 21 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKS:
Larkspur prefers a cool climate and germinates best at temperatures in the range of 55–60°F. Performs best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade.
