Description:
Also known as "False Sunflower," Sunflower Ox-Eye is a long-blooming plant closely related to sunflowers. Native to central and northeastern U.S., they have yellow-orange, daisy-like blooms 2 to 3 inches in diameter.

SOWING:
Direct sow in full sun after all danger of frost has passed. Plant seed 1 inch apart, 1/4 inch deep, cover with soil and keep moist. Mature plants can handle drought well, but water during extended dry spells.

THINNING:
When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin to 1 to 2 feet apart.

GERMINATION:
Germinates in 7 to 10 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.

REMARKS:
Highly adaptable and easy to grow. Makes excellent cut flowers. Attracts bees, other pollinators, and parasitoid insects that prey upon pest insects. Seeds provide food for birds, making it a great choice for a butterfly or wildlife area.
