Height: 3 to 4 feet
Native to the middle and eastern United States, the flowers of this variety resemble those of lupines with their deep blue to purple pea-like blossoms. Blooms in late spring through early summer.
SOWING
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist but well-draining soil after all danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with 1/8 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Do not cover seeds deeply. Water well during dry or drought conditions.
GERMINATION
Germination in 14 to 21 days, depending on soil temperature and growing conditions.
REMARKS
Attracts a number of pollinators such as bumble bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Excellent for use in meadow plantings.
