History:
An old Swiss and English heirloom dating back well before the American pioneers who popularized it in the 1700s. Highly valued for its tolerance to both heat and cold.

Habit:
Forms a nice open rosette of tender, triangle-shaped emerald-colored leaves with a prominent rib. Some leaves may be tinged with light bronze. Heads average 6–7” and are very slow to bolt.

Culture:

Plant seed outdoors 2” apart as soon as soil can be worked in early spring.
Cover lightly with ?” of fine soil and water well.
Germinates in 6–10 days.
When plants are 3” tall, thin to allow mature plants to stand 10” apart.
Matures in 55–65 days.
