Matures in 80 Days

Iceberg is one of the best heading varieties. It heads early and stands a long time without bolting to seed. Produces large heads of light green leaves with crisp, tender hearts that blanch to a green-tinged white.

Sowing:

Plant seed outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked, or indoors 4–6 weeks earlier.
Plant in rows 18 inches apart, spacing seeds 1 inch apart.
Cover with ? inch of fine soil, pressed down.
Keep soil moist until seeds start to grow.
Thinning:

When plants are 2–3 inches tall, thin to 10–12 inches apart.
Germination:

Germinates in 7–14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
Remarks:

Make several plantings during the season.
As heads develop, cut every other one to give remaining plants more space.
