Lettuce Red Romaine
Lactuca sativa

Matures in 65 Days

Ruby red outer leaves with bright green veins form stunning compact upright heads. Tender hearts are rose blending to green at the base. More heat tolerant and less bitter than many green romaine lettuces.

Sowing:

Seed directly outdoors as early as soil can be worked.
Cover seed with ¼ inch of soil, spaced 2 inches apart in each direction.
Lettuce prefers cooler growing conditions.
In hot weather, refrigerate seeds for a few days before planting to encourage germination.
Thinning:

Thin to 6–10 inches apart when plants are 4 inches high.
Germination:

7–14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
Keep soil evenly moist until plants start to grow.
Remarks:

As heads develop, harvest every other baby-sized head to allow room for others to mature.
Sow every few weeks for continuous harvest.
