A popular vegetable used either raw or cooked, as a flavoring in salads, soups, sandwiches, and stew. Spanish onions will grow quite large and sweet. This variety is not a winter keeper.

SOWING:
Plant seed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked. For earlier crop, start seed indoors 5–7 weeks before last frost and set out after last frost. Plant seed in rows 10 inches apart, spacing seed 1 inch apart in the row. Cover with 1/4" fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until seeds start to grow.

THINNING:
When plants are 3 inches tall, thin or transplant 10 inches apart in the row.

GERMINATION:
Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.

REMARKS:
Cultivate and draw up earth well around plants so they are fairly well covered at all times. Water regularly and fertilize every 4–6 weeks.
