Matures in 120–130 Days
Huge, golden-orange colored pumpkins which can weigh 400 to 500 lbs., with some growing to 1,000 lbs. Rough-skinned and beautifully ribbed, the vines are vigorous. A large planting area is needed for these huge pumpkins. Developed by Howard Dill Enterprises in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada specifically for pumpkin size competitions.
SOWING:
Sow the seeds outdoors after all danger of frost is past and soil has warmed to at least 60°F. Plant 2 to 3 seeds in a mound of soil or “hill”. Space hills 15 to 20 feet apart. Requires full sun. Keep well-watered during the growing season.
THINNING:
When plants are 3 to 4 inches high, thin to one strong healthy plant per hill if you are trying to grow extra-large pumpkins.
GERMINATION:
5 to 10 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS:
Atlantic Giant pumpkins have thick flesh walls. They are primarily grown for competitions.
