Description:
This unusually shaped zucchini squash produces a generous crop with a delicious flavor. Can be used fresh in salads or cooked in any zucchini recipe. Because of its shape, it is well suited for stuffed zucchini. Compact plants produce round to oblong fruit 1 to 5 inches in diameter.
SOWING:
Plant seed in a sunny location, outdoors in late spring when the ground is warm and all danger of frost is past. Make a group of 3 to 5 seeds spaced in a ring about 2 to 3 inches across; cover with 1/2 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Each ring of seeds is called a "hill", and hills should be spaced 4 to 6 feet apart.
THINNING:
When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin to leave the strongest seedlings.
GERMINATION:
Germinates in 10 to 14 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKS:
Plants continue to produce tender, vitamin-rich fruits until frost if picked often before they mature. Best picked when they are 1 to 5 inches in diameter. The flowers are edible and can be added fresh to salads for a flavor and gourmet presentation. (Note: If you pick all the flowers you will not get any squash.)
